Stitching Guidelines

When stitching pieces for donation to World of Charity Stitching, please follow the guidelines below. These guidelines help our finishers complete the projects properly. We are also working to promote the site on Facebook to attract more members. High-quality photos of your finished work support this effort, allowing more people to enjoy your beautiful stitching.

  • Planning - For your pieces to be finished, they must include a minimum of 1" additional fabric around all sides. If there is not enough fabric to finish, your piece can not be used.

  • Stitching - Include either your first name or initials, along with your state or country. Recipients love seeing where each square comes from, and it means a great deal to them that so many people from different places took the time to create something special.

  • Posting - When posting your unfinished piece to the site:
    • Include only one stitched piece per image so it can be correctly linked to the finished gift where it was used. If multiple pieces appear in the same photo, they cannot be linked, and recipients won’t know your piece was used.

    • Use the pattern name, if known, for the name of the finished piece. If the name is something common like "dog", add additional information to help make it easier to locate.

    • Include the pattern designer and the original pattern name, if you know them. This information helps improve our search engine visibility, making it easier for new members to find and join us.
  • Mailing - When mailing squares:
    • Place them inside a zip-top plastic bag or a protective mailing envelope.
    • Include an address label inside the bag as well. This ensures that if the outer package is damaged, the post office can still identify the sender or destination, and the plastic bag will help protect the square from moisture or tearing during transit.
